Mysterious Roots

"Very nice!"

submission: Mysterious Roots
date: September 29, 2008

Great piece man! I really dig the use of percussion here, really makes me want to go on an expedition. It's very well arranged and it sounds like a professional production, great job!

And yes, professional equipment is pretty darn expensive although I think Eastwest has some pretty good deals to offer lately.

10/10 scarabs from me ;)

Author's Response:

Thanks. Yeah it really wasn't that expensive and I got two other livraries with it. yay.

I have another piece I'm working on but I don't know if it's ready yet.

I really want to get the strings from Vienna symphonic Library but I'm 281 dollars short (the full price) of getting them.

Thanks for listening.

Hey Kaiyoti, great to see you on NG as well! Amazing music as always, I absolutelly love the synths (self-programmed?) in this track. Hope you're going to upload some of your other music as well. I guess you got some pretty cool stuff to show.

Take care!

Great job, I really liked the percussion! My only suggestion would be adding a limiter since there are quite a few clippings here.

"Very nice!"

submission: L&M Logo 2008

I really liked this one, my only suggestion is to do a bit of equalization. Try to turn the area around 600Hz down by 2 - 3 dB and higher 15000Hz by 1 - 2 dB or so. This should give you a very clear result if that was intended. ;)

Apart from that it was awesome, keep it up man!

August 20, 2008

Author's Response:

Equalization huh? I was going for more of a surround/stereo type feel, instead of the one I had before where the panning was there, but it didn't really sound "real". Clear is good though, glad to know there's a music expert critique guy out there who, with a familiar name, probably has a good share of music! Thanks for your thoughts!

STOGAM - End Credits Act2

"Great track"

date: August 8, 2008

I gotta admit that I haven't listened to your work since a while. But the more I was impressed of this track, really good job as usual. Especially the part where the choir kicks in was... you know the word ;)

Justin, I always wondered what libraries you're using since you're also making use of a real orchestra. Is it the "standard" East West SO library, VSL or custom build stuff?

Take care man!

~Symphony of the Night~

"Carouselish =O"

date: February 26, 2008

Okay, it's probably a bit too happy for Resident Evil at the beginning, nothing bad though. I really liked the twist in the middle, sounded like something was comming.

By the way did you use a keyboard? Sounds pretty much like that. Hope you're getting forward with your new compositions as well, can't wait to hear them! ;D

February 27, 2008

Author's Response:

I would absolutely LOVE to get 'forward' with my new compositions...but without a computer to work on I am unable to do so (not my computer right now). So for the time being I have to simply sit here and allow all the tunes I have to roll around in my head.

I did not use a keyboard, rather I have a program that has many very nice samples on it that I can use. That and I mess around in FL studio until I get something that sounds good (FL is not the program :P).

Thanks for the review...always love getting reviews...even more so when they are from those that I love (music wise!...Don't want anyone to think that I am wierder than I actually am...stalker wise O.o)

Thanks though :D,

The Morning After

"Not bad actually"

submission: The Morning After
date: February 25, 2008

Great to see that you've started writing. From what I've heard I can definitely tell that you got the required something that is needed to compose. I really like this piece, reminds me of the good old SNES times actually (which isn't supposed to be bad). Your sense for melodies is really good, just go on and try to grow with every piece! =)

February 26, 2008

Author's Response:

:O...its Danman :D,:D:D:D. How's it going? ^^;. Anyhow I don't have too much to say here other than this is but the beginning (awhile back >.>). Just you [and everyone else] wait until I get back on and start my composing again...hoho...just because I have been gone doesn't mean that I won't be able to write something masterful.

Thanks alot for the review (seriously), you are one of those that I strive to match.

Remember my Name - part 1/2

"Epic to the bone"

date: February 25, 2008

Hey there, here comes my delayed review. Better late than never I suppose ;)

1/2

The build up at the beginning is great, the listener is able to feel that something is comming, something of large scale. The choirs have this great "pre-apocalyptic" atmosphere, you really know how to evolve feelings, these short staccato strings are telling me that. The part in the middle comes up with great atmospherical setting, I especially enjoyed the part with the horn around 2:10. Just holding the tension for the next loud passage that follows around 4 mins, definitelly a great part and probably my favorite in this piece.

2/2

Now this has some style, I really dig the downfall of your instruments at the beginning. The part after that is amazing (yes, amazing ;D), would sound even better if you had better instruments, but realism beside. The melody of the high staccato violins is quite catchy, you did a great job on building this part overall. There are simply no flaws or parts were I would have said "Naaa, still needs some work". Great choral parts as usual, you really got a hand for those.

Two times 5/5 by me, this is an incredible piece!

Author's Response:

Wow... thanks a lot for spending your time writing a review for me. You know I after your work I've heard from you on NG I think you really got talent and your opinion is important for me.

I'm really happy that you liked this music. It took an awfull lot of time to compose it from the beginning to the end. Not to mention that I've started to compose it two times...

So thank you for your points and for this review. As far as I manange to get some free time I'll visit your page and write some review for your tracks too - even if you dont have new ones because there are a lot of tracks that I've missed!

The Beautiful Savage

"Beautiful indeed"

date: July 19, 2007

First of all, I really like the clean mastering of this production. I mostly stumble upon tracks that are poorly mastered, it´s one very important aspect if you ask me. The mix between orchestral and new age elements is really good, the lo-fi percussion added a rather modern touch to it, which is great. You also came up with some great harmonics here, quite enjoyable at all.

I´ll put an end here because this review is spontaneous. Try keep it up and make something out of it, you got everything that is needed.

August 12, 2007

Author's Response:

Thanks for the spontaneous review. I agree mastering is very important and I'm rather amatuer at it, but this one really stood out. Glad you liked the song mate and thanks again.
