Very atmospherical

Hey, sorry for the slight delay but I had some problems with my comp yesterday. After that someone voted zero on my submission (*sigh* Who is that always?) and I was just to irritated to write a suitable review. So here we go now...

The piece has a slight chinese touch, from the very first impression I would guess that it was originaly composed for a videogame, and don´t get me wrong, that isn´t something bad since videogame music is more than just beeping noises. It´s the very fast flow, the viola, and the syntheziser sounds in the background which are adding this kind of eastern touch, I have to say that I liked that :P. The rain fx comes nice and adds a serious touch to it, I´d would have added a few percussion layers more to get a bit more density. It´s really good overall and shows that you know what you´re doing. So I´ll rate it with 5/5

Keep on composing and you´ll discover some abilities that you didn´t know from ;).

Thanks man! Ya somone ran through my songs rating 3 on each one so the ratings dropped a bit...anyways thanks for the advice and the support!

Great Strings!

Had a really nice feeling in it. I really liked your harmonics, the whole thing worked well together, except for the percussion which was slightly too loud at some parts. Those Celli where awesome, they just need a bit more reverb. Well, I have no idea what you´re using but I recommend you CSReverb which is included in the Philharmonik library. It adds a realistic depth to the instruments which sounds really great.

But however, I really liked the piece! 5 points for a trip into the dreamland! :)

madboss responds:

Thanks alot! I'm using Reason still and it's Orkester soundbank. I'll consider that reverb on the cello - thanks for the idea. About the percussions - well I don't know what do you mean. If the glocken I'll check them out.

I'm glad you liked it and thanks for your review/points!

Unique and stylish

I wanted to review this one since a few months now and I finally found some time. I could only give 5 points for the main theme itself, it´s so unique and great arranged that it could be from Hans Zimmer himself. The percussion is powerful and dynamic, adds a wonderful strong athmosphere with a high amount of tension. I found it great that you managed it to keep the quality, that shows that you´re not out of ideas too fast. A very important thing when you want to write a score. That´s why it also deserves 10 points in diversity, I loved the part with the violin ensemble!

What you seriously need is a better instrument library, this piece deserves that! It´s cinematic, powerful and very unique. Great Cue!

madboss responds:

OMG thanks a lot! From Hans Zimmer itself... well I think I don't have to say who's my favourit filmscore composer and he's music always inspires me to make music like this. I'm truly considering to re-compose this piece with my new techniques I've found out in reason but first I want to finish some other projects and I need some more fee time.

I'm glad you liked the percussions - personally now I think they are a bit too loud and taking the space from the other instruments. Since thisone I try to be more carefull with big drums.

Thanks again for your time spent on this review and the points you gave to me. This means a lot for me!

Wonderful Choirplay.

Wow, honestly. I was truly amazed by the choirs, especially the part in the middle took me by the hand. Absolutelly fantastic.

The orchestration sounded really good, my only complain would be the bell at the beginning and some other parts. It was a little bit lost and I guess more reverb would have fixed that.

You really have a feeling for fast strings, I really enjoyed the passages where you used them, great job on those! I can also say the same for the brass section, even when the samples of them weren´t so good, but that depends on the library you´re using, not on your skills I suppose.

It´s a really good piece which becomes great with its choir passage, this part was my personal highlight of it. Again: Really great job!

All together: 5/5

madboss responds:

Yeah that bell was lost in the whole orchestral mass. Maybe you're right with that reverb - I'll try it next time.

The brass section is my killer - I don't have really good stuff for reason - so I have to make something with the stuff I have. But I'm happy that you liked them though.

Thanks for dropping a rev and I'm glad you liked this piece!

Synth meats Orchestra

Really good track, I guess it became really popular since Hans Zimmer to mix Orchestra instruments with Syntheziser sounds. I was actually surprised as the drums started. It sounded really good after I really regognized the mix of it. I also really like the piano part near the end. Well, to get into the word "end"... I think people should listen to a full song. Impatience became really popular these days.

Anyways, it´s an interesting piece when you pull that all together, I really enjoyed it!

Hope someone is going to listen to first piece, before I start to make my songs 30 seconds long.

Well, you´re a great composer. Try to catch the stars ;)

MilkMan-Dan responds:

A Hans Zimmer fan... I'm impressed... oddly enough I had the pleasure of hearing some of your music today. Your new... and good. I can't wait to hear more... not much time for reviewing these days but just know that I'm listening.

Catch the Stars... alluding to Hans Zimmer I see ;)... great taste... your music shows his style.

Great name btw... Dan... really awsome :D.

Cheers Mate.
